About Studio Jenske Dijkhuis

Jenske Dijkhuis (Amsterdam, 1980) works as both a product designer and a spatial designer. Combining the Dutch professions ruimtelijk ontwerper and vormgever she achieved a new description for her line of work: Ruimtegever (loosely translated: Spacemaker).

In 2006 she graduated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy for Applied Arts (Bachelor of Design) in Amsterdam under the supervision of tutors Sophie Krier, Peyk Suyling (Young Designers + Industry), Thomas Widdershoven (Thonik) and Stefan Scholten (Scholten & Baajings).

After graduating Studio Jenske Dijkhuis was founded in early 2007. The studio and office is based in an old factory building in Zaanstad (an old, mainly food producing, industrial area near Amsterdam). From her studio she designs and realizes both assignments and free work. Her work varies from product design to interior and architectural installations. Her work is striving to give the public a more intense experience of space. She likes to emphasize the influence of interior, architecture, and the cityscape on our state of mind. The way we are using and experiencing space in our daily existence.
